Pivotal Container Service (PKS) and NSX T

VMware NSX-T provides an agile software-defined infrastructure to build cloud-native application environments. NSX-T is focused on emerging application frameworks and architectures that have heterogeneous endpoints and technology stacks. Pivotal Container Service (PKS) enables operators to provision, operate, and manage enterprise-grade Kubernetes clusters on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF). How to combine best of both worlds? This video describes how VMware NSX-T is used in combination with Pivotal Container Service to provide automated, persistent security controls for application delivery through Kubernetes on vSphere. NSX-T allows IT and development teams to choose the technologies best suited for their applications.

NSX-T is designed to support vSphere hypervisor along with other environments include other hypervisors such as KVM, containers, and bare metal. NSX-T is designed for management, operations, and consumption by development organizations. PKS uses the On-Demand Broker to deploy Cloud Foundry Container Runtime, a BOSH release that offers a uniform way to instantiate, deploy, and manage highly available Kubernetes clusters on a cloud platform using BOSH. After operators install the PKS tile on the Ops Manager Installation Dashboard, developers can provision Kubernetes clusters using the PKS Command Line Interface (PKS CLI), and run container-based workloads on the clusters with the Kubernetes CLI, kubectl.

PKS has the following features:
